Dr. Cobretti D. Williams (he/him) is a writer, editor, scholar, and content strategist living at the intersection of education, politics, and culture.
A trained scholar and academic, Cobretti began his career as a student affairs professional, working directly with college students at institutions including, Seattle University, New York University, Boston University, and the University of Chicago. Cobretti began his editorial career as an associate editor for the Journal of Critical Scholarship on Higher Education and Student Affairs before becoming editor-in-chief in 2018.
Since then, Cobretti’s career as an editor has blossomed with progressive roles in editorial design, content strategy, and digital storytelling for academic journals and media publications including HigherEdJobs, EdSurge, and Spark. Currently, he is a managing editor for BestColleges, a news and resource website for college students.
In his work, Cobretti endeavors to write and produce short and long-form content in various mediums and formats that speak to critical issues that impact diverse populations across race, gender, sexuality, ability, and class. In addition to his various publications in academic and public media platforms, Cobretti now works with various organizations that want to enhance and maximize their content for social impact and diverse storytelling.
Cobretti received his Bachelor of Arts in Finance from Florida State University before transitioning to a career in the education field. Since then, he has received a Master of Arts in Student Development Administration from Seattle University and a Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education from Loyola University Chicago.
